What I love about photographing fine minerals is it combines the beauty of nature and the techniques of product photography. The trick is being creative without overstepping and letting the specimen be the star. This one displays gold needle-like crystals with a mirror-like mineral called hematite (a.k.a. 'rust', if you can believe it) nestled on a volcanic rock from Brazil. Single shot, no stacking on this one.
