I love how the perspective of this shot makes the dog look like he's bigger than the mountains.

Thanks, it was a fun scene to play with!

Probably my favourite from this contest! But I think that a bit less of foreground would have make it even better, I feel like the small stones in the front drag too much attention away from the dog. Still a great work!

Hey thanks for the kind words. Yeah I was torn on the foreground too. I felt like the stones were fun and unique and tried to play with perspective a bit. Great feedback!

Very well lit with great perspective. I will agree with David though, a little less foreground

Thanks for the feedback!

Your "simple" setup improves the photo, in my opinion, and the rocks add interest (of course that could be my geology background speaking). They make me look at the dog, rocks, back and forth and wait, the sunset's there, too. There's a single plant silhouetted on the hillside, left of the dog....don't get rid of it either. I'd offer something I think you could improve on, but I even think the dog's shadow from the single strobe adds a touch of perspective....nice work and my only advice is be careful getting that low perspective if you try this on Sonora Desert...tarantulas are friendly, scorpions not so much.

Thanks you very much for the kind words! It was such a neat scene and the desert floor was super cool so I wanted to incorporate the contrast of the sand and stones in the foreground. The dog was super well behaved and allowed me to take my time. I'll remember that about Sonora! Cheers!

No need for thanks when I'm just speaking the truth. I've love a close look at those rocks, too. But that's the geologist/rock collector talking. I sure hope you have an awesome rest of the day. I miss my annual visits to Idaho, dang it.

This is a great shot! Love it!

Thanks much! Fun to have a nice area to setup in!

"Dog on Mars." Composite sky?

No, single exposure. I exposed for the sky and used a single off camera speed light to light dog/foreground. Shot was taken in early morning. 👍🏻

Epic!

Thank you!
