Contradictions intrigue me. While wandering in one most affluent location in America, this scene emerged one late winter’s evening. Outside the walls of a sizeable home, this teetering bench surrounded by trash, potholes, a broken sidewalk and crumbling brick suggests how tenuous position and status might be. Maybe the walls are meant to protect from that realization. Maybe not. Only time tells the whole story.
