This was a huge experimental shot for me. I don't own a macro lens, so I wanted to see what kind of image I could get by taking a 50mm lens, flipping it around, holding it in front of my camera, and trying to create a macro photo. This is what I came up with.

lovely colors. the downside of this technique is that holding a camera while holding a lens turned around to the body and trying to focus is always pretty difficult. the result is kind of successful, but i would not want to excuse the lack of a macro to justify ok images when the same flower would've shined with dedicated effort in getting the right tools. needs some work i think.
Thank you Richard, I hear you on the quality and honestly I would never put this in my portfolio. More just wanted to post it to see what people though given the context of how it was made. I think from an artistic perspective and keeping in mind the process it came out nice but I agree, this would never be a delivered image to a client.
