From an early morning session at the beach, we got incredibly lucky with a great sunrise. I had a light camera left that was diffused by an umbrella.

The flash feels a bit awkward to me,
maybe too strong or too hard...
but at the same time it makes the subject pop even more and froze the moment perfectly, so i'm not sure.
what do you think?
I was pretty happy with the results, but I can see what you mean. Maybe something more subtle would have worked too. I was only adjusting the flash power, as I was taking silhouettes of her too and I didn't want to be changing too many things out there. Using the flash did only give me one photo per jump, as it couldn't recycle fast enough for more than that.
perhaps trying to mask her and retuching just her to better fit the background (ajusting the tones mostly) i think would make this image look incredible, but right now to me it looks as if you took a greenscreen shot of somone and then pasted them ontop of a stock image... but i do agree the flash made the subject pop... however the direction of the light and the difference in temperature of lights (5000k-ish for flash and 3200k-ish for setting sun) is what makes this image look fake especialy by the lower leg
