Last summer we built a humming bird feeder to hang off the side of our deck. We had no idea if there were even humming birds where we lived (we had never seen them), but thought to give it a chance. They were slow to come at first, but after about a week it turned into battle royale at our feeder and there were about six different humming birds that would fight all day for their chance to feed. Humming birds are very territorial so they were constantly chasing each other away - maybe it's not PC, but we found this quite entertaining. They are very small, skittish, move erratically, and never stop moving, which I think makes them hard to photograph... but this one claimed the throne long enough for me to get a couple shots.
