On my way back from another architectural shoot in Truckee, I stopped by a spot along the Yuba River that had a ton of fall color hoping to get a shot of some rapids with colorful trees in the background. Unfortunately, there just wasn’t good light and I couldn’t find a composition I liked. As I was leaving, I noticed a lone leaf hanging on to the edge of a rock as the water passed by. I used my 105mm macro lens to get a tight shot with minimal distractions. The light was still really harsh, so I took off my shirt and used that to put the scene in shade.
