This is the new glass sky pool in London. This pool is suspended between two skyscrapers 115ft above the ground. I had to wait for the perfect cloud formation around noon to pull this off. I set up my composition and put my camera on a tripod with a 70-200 looking up at the pool. I triggered the continuous shooting mode which captured over 50 poses. I then selected the best pose. Also, since the dynamic range is very high (shooting against the sun), I had to shoot different exposures of the sky and pool which were merged in post with the swimmer.

Ok you had to wait for the perfect cloud formation, but I have to ask, was the swimmer photoshopped in?

I don't get it that people here always assume everything to be faked. I don't see any reason for any big manipulation there. I think it was just overly dodged.

I wasn't implying it was fake or there was anything wrong with it. The images on Fstoppers tend to lean towards having photoshop work done on them, and I wondered if the swimmer was added in. I asked this because the lighting on the swimmer and the sky would be tough to do without lighting or post-processing. As Ali explained, he did add the swimmer to the final image. He captured both the swimmer and the sky as two different images and combined them in post. Nothing wrong with that. I was simply wondering how the image was created.

Hey Douglas, no the swimmer is not fake, on my Instagram you could see a video of him swimming. I triggered the continuous shooting mode which captured over 50 poses. I then selected the best pose. Also, since the dynamic range is very high (shooting against the sun), I had to shoot different exposures of the sky and pool which were merged in post with the swimmer.

Thanks for the reply. That is an awesome photo. I was wondering how you controlled the dynamic range of the swimmer and the background.
