1.63 - "Needs Work"

Window light portrait of my wife on our anniversary. Taken with a D750 ISO 400 f8 @ 125 sec. I converted it to black and white because I was drawn to her green eyes, and left color in her lips as accent.

love the sharpness

Thanks for your compliment. Thats about 50% crop.

I posted a similar photo earlier in the competition... a slightly older woman in black and white, but the same sort of high key concept as you have here, focusing on the eyes and lips. Mine too got hit with a barrage of (1) scores so I deleted it rather than suffer further indignity. Scoring these sort of photos a snapshot is typical of the mindset here in the Fstoppers community, showing lack of thought and appreciation for what goes into the photo. It's totally beyond me. People just don't understand the scoring system. It does tell me though that most people don't like the style of this photo. So I'm just writing to say that your picture is excellent. There's nothing that "needs work." That said, if I experimented with anything I might consider bringing back maybe 10% of the natural skin color in her face. Whether it's portfolio worthy is kind of a dumb way to label a photo because portfolios are made in different ways for different clients in mind. But I do like the photo. Exposure, given your intent, is perfect. Perspective is captivating. Crop is just right. Great work!
