Hi all,
I have been having a great time taking photos for the past year in several countries, and I am starting to want to send them to competitions and stuff.
A question though - has anyone ever looked into different countries' laws about street photography? I want to be respectful of people who happen to be in my photos, of course, but also make sure I'm not trespassing on intellectual property laws with public art, etc.

I'm sure that someone at some time has looked into the laws, and I recommend that you do the same. In the US, you are generally okay to use an image shot in a public place for non-commercial purposes. One thing you'll want to avoid is entering a contest where you give them rights to use your photo in any manner they wish. That could become problematic.
