Dark Skies
This shot was taken a couple of years ago at Cherry Spring, State Park in PA. This place is one of the darkest skies I have been at. Does any want to share some of their favorite places that also have a truly dark sky?

Sterling in silhouette
I held a lighting workshop recently. Sterling was the model. I rarely shoot silhouettes but I wanted to incorporate that arch into a shot. Backlighting became an obvious choice.

Unfortunately I cannot comment on dark skies in the eastern US, but I do know that there are lots of great places in the Western parts.. Middle of Nebraska has some outstanding dark skies. Montana, Idaho, Utah, and Nevada all have VERY dark skies area - a lot of National Parks in those area as well - very worth your time to go visit.
