Had originally planned to get 30 x 60s ~ 30 minutes on this but I could see a storm was rolling in off the Gulf of Mexico so was only able to get 8 minutes. In hindsight, I wish I would have stopped the nifty fifty down to f/5.6 as there is still quite a bit of distortion even at f/4. Definitely could use a better lens.
Equipment: NEQ6-Pro equatorial mount (clamped the 6D ontop of a telescope), Canon 6D, EF 50mm f/1.8
Software: Astro Pixel Processor, PS CC
Other: super dark Bortle 2 skies : )
Excellent capture Robert.
-I think you can give a little more to the lights/highlights just to pop out the brightness of the Galaxy.
Yes I certainly could stretch it more, but then the noise will also increase. I was only able to get 8 minutes on this before a storm was rolling in off the gulf of mexico and had to cover everything up. I had planned to get 30 minutes, which would have been awesome. I'll be going back to that site with two tracking mounts soon... its almost Bortle 1, nearly impossible to find in the SE USA
