4x4 mosaic North American and Pelican nebulas
Shot with a monochrome camera and hydrogen alpha filter, this is a 4x4 mosaic using a really small 70mm APO refracting telescope and tracker.

Sterling in silhouette
I held a lighting workshop recently. Sterling was the model. I rarely shoot silhouettes but I wanted to incorporate that arch into a shot. Backlighting became an obvious choice.

I'm not really into DSOs, but what I find interesting about this photo is the dark dust lanes in the middle. It looks like a "cross" windows looking through the nebula, but i'm guessing we are actually seeing stars in front of those dark lanes?
yes, stars in front and the dust is illuminated from stars behind ionizing the hydrogen dust clouds
