So I've just started out trying my hand at astro. I couldn't find Neowise while I was out but I did manage my first real shot of the milky way. There wasn't much around in the form of subject so I tried to frame the milky way through some trees. I would have waited a bit longer for the milky way to line up just a bit better in the framing but some clouds started rolling in. Astro really is pretty tricky it seems lol.
Anyways, does the edit seem okay? Since it's my first time editing the milky way I don't want it to come out over zealous. I've actually not saturated the image at all, just added contrast, but it seems quite vibrant. Thoughts?
I'm no pro but I think it looks cool. It's a great beginning
Thanks David
not crazy about the tree frame but the milky way and the sky below it make a nice pict.
Nice shot Trevor, we've all got to start somewhere.
The exposure on the Milky Way is right on. Were it me, I'd reframe it to 1) eliminate the tree (it's distracting from the beauty of the Milky Way), and 2) pull the bottom up about 20% to eliminate the dead space taken up by so much water that's not contributing to your shot. Also, check to see that the horizon is dead level when you make a shot. It looks to be a smidgen off. You might also invest in a Night Sky Light Pollution filter from Breakthrough Photography (they're NOT cheap!).
