Light Painting Tools / Brushes

I started 2022 experimenting with various light painting tools. In this photo, I used a rectangle shape plexiglass tool to create the light painting pattern. After a few failed attempts I got some usable images. f8 @ 6s ISO 100 The light painting tool is illuminated with a flashlight set on strobe mode and the model is captured at the end of the exposure using flash (2nd curtain sync)

Hi Hank. I think I would be totally inept at light painting myself and really appreciate the extent you have gone to in creating these images.
It is such a creative imagination you have, and I thank you for being willing to provide insight into your techniques.

...tHANKs Alan. It's so much fun creating these images and a pleasure to share them... even the one where I didn't exit the frame fast enough...hahaha.

Light painting is fun but your images can be felt... they evoke an emotional respose. True Art!

A Very Challenging Photo

Sometimes a bit of luck is all you need.

When/Where: On August 7, 2026 at the Abbotsford International Airshow during the Friday afternoon/evening Twilight Show.

Tiny Visitor
