What kind of light he used ?
Are these photos high end retouched ?
I have seen this guy when he was a armature photographer and now he is top photographer in our country. What creates this great photos ? Is that light or retouching skill or viewing sense ?
His old works
The top image, I would use a bare bulb on a strobe, no modifier. The image below, I would use a parabolic softbox for the contrast but still softness.
Thanks a lot. What do you think the difference between his old works ? Is that retouching skill ?
Thank you for your opinion. I think you are pointing much on the word ''Top Photographer". Actually my question was what makes a good image ? we all know artist makes the image using the gears properly. You cant make these photos with a mobile camera and flash right ? So gear matters in fashion photography.I want to know which thing/skill i need the most to improve myself so that i can focus on that first.
Thanks that is what i wanted to know so it is the EYE :)
Good answer Alejandro! Farabi, don't be afraid to experiment with different things a lot of people, when trying to hone their skills, fall into the trap of only learning to replicate successful styles. I think that can be a good way to learn, but it can lead to same hard to break habits that could stifle your creativity
Hi Farabi, you may find Julia Kuzmenko McKim's articles on this website interesting and helpful. Specifically "How To "Read" Light In Photography" is a fantastic resource.
Also, pick some favorite photographers and follow them on social media, analyse their photos, what makes them great. Posing, Lighting, Retouching, Framing, it's all important, not just one thing.
I think the top image (shot on white) was probably a Briese light. The older image (on black) looks like an octobox. Same for the one below it.
