Tia in mono

I've always been told that a good B&W image has two main components that make it a good photograph: Contrast & texture. Obviously content and composition play an important role, but if you have the first two you're on your way. Some people may differ from that teaching, but I've found it a good yardstick. I'm hoping that this photo has all the ingredients necessary to make it a good photograph... It may be a bit on the dark side, but that's how I like it ;)

I would have cropped it just above her collar bone. When I scroll the image so that just above the collar bone is visible, it is a compelling shot. However, with the whole image in view, the bottom quarter becomes distracting.

If this was my shot, I'd crop as suggested and there would already be a 16X20 print made. :-)

Sweet capture - nice shot

In terms of cropping, I think it would've been nice to see more of her left shoulder (or left side to me). Her hair is so dense that while there may be symmetric balance between her right and left side, visually it feels like the right side has more being shown and the left is simply left out. Other than the crop, the texture of the freckles and dramatic presence of shadow on the cheekbone, eyes, and mouth are astonishing. The skeletal definition of the collar bones and ribs is quite impactful as well. Overall, dope photo, just wish it had more visual balance in terms of crop. :)
