I've only been taking pictures on a DSLR for just over 4 months now, so my experience level is quite low currently. I have a couple of pictures I think our some of my better B&W photos and wanted to get an opinion from the community on what can be improved.
the fourth one is a miss for me but the first 3 are just shy of being really well executed B&W portraits are all about light management and details you should take a look at Robert Sakowski, Peter Coulson and there is another that i can't remember but check them out and study what they are doing with the light and how soft or harsh they use it
I agree with Joseph, the fourth looks like a miss, but always depends on the idea that brought you to that shot. I really like the third one, the only thing I'll do is just to expose a tad more the the left side, and same for the second, just expose the eye a bit more!
The first one is good, but my pick is still the third!
Good job :)
In my opinion, you're showing much more than four months of maturity. Agreed with the last two that the fourth image isn't doing itself any favors.
However, you could pass the first three off in an exhibit hall or art gallery, especially if they were given the right context.
The first and third are really pleasing. Good job
