This image was captured on a beach in Maine. Sea fog enveloped the beach for a while with sunlight filtering through to provide such beautiful lighting.
So funny! I already rated this before you posted it. I love it. Aside from all the technical blah blah terrific, I love the retro feel of this. It is timeless. This could be an awesome old photo of my mom or it could be me today. Really slick work capturing what feels so familiar and ... personal is the word that keeps coming to mind. Maybe it just does this because I live at the shore but this really speaks to me.
This is a re-post of what I wrote on this image in your portfolio Alan, sorry to be redundant, can you tell I love it:
Great capture Alan. I would have loved to have taken a shot like this. Strong subject (two ladies), a wonderful step down from the main ladies with rich tone to the other background people getting softer in the distance. Extra bonus for that person waaayy back there just a subtle silhouette. I really like how my eye travels around in a circle from the main ladies to the other background people and is led right back to the main ladies.
When I was working full time in Manhattan as an art director for Pharmaceutical advertising, this would have been a winning lifestyle shot, I would have money in your hand before we even hired you, LOL!
Recently, I have been trying out street Photography and just walk around lifestyle type shots with little success. This shot got my re-invigorated, especially because I live near the beach, thanks for that.
Thanks Joe, this just goes to prove you never know what you might find until you get out there.
Living in Vermont I hope to get to the beach and investigate opportunities more often.
Joe and Ruth put it well, Alan. A great image! Can't fault it, and don't even think that way; I just enjoy it. And that timeless feel - did you know you were going to get it? I presume you're not 130 years old.
As i said to Joe (via profile page) this was from the outset a piece of luck. It was midday with sun & blue skies (yuk!)
I had planned to visit the beach and scout images to when the light was more favorable and found the beach engulfed by fog. The sunlight diffusing through fog was exquisite and I raced around capturing a number of images as it was lifting.
I am glad folks acknowledge the timeless feel - I can't honestly say that was my original intent but after working in post this is the result that really spoke to me.
oops - no image
I thought I'd offer something more minimal..... added the image as per your critical feedback ;-)

Thanks Ruth, especially for the generous rating.
I don't live at the shore but enjoy it when visiting relatives. I think it provides unique opportunities, albeit with its own challenges.
