I absolutely love B&W photography, and the powerful emotions it can bring out in a image. I’m looking to see what others think about not only the overall images but pointers on where I can improve.
Technically, I found the B/W treatment you gave the three shots to be eye-catching and pleasing. Collectively, what the images are missing for me, is context. Looking at your portfolio, I feel that that image #1 works more effectively in color, partly because your model's outfit does not translate the theme as well in B/W. Image #2 is really cool, but I can't really infer the story - maybe having the guy holding an object or showing more of the environment would support the message. Finally, the third image might need a different pose or color toning to convey the story. As-is, I don't get the feeling that your model is looking out for inspiration, because he's looking down. At the same time, his pose and lighting levels don't really convey a somber mood to me.
At face value, I like them, but since you spoke to the emotions the images can evoke, I was evaluating them based on this. Curious what your intent was, particularly with the 2nd and 3rd shots?
