BW CC

Thoughts of any kind welcome.

I wanted to try out some small scale focus stacking, and finally got around to it this past week. Due to petals of the flowers opening as the shoot progressed, this piece (as well as others) didn't do as well as I had hoped. So I know and you can see some unfortunate artifacts and misalignments which muck up the final result (I did fix some of them manually, I may or may not go back and fix more), but wanted to know what you thought, maybe suggestions, can be technical or compositional.

This is a Straw flower.

Dude this is great I need to stop by for a day and do some of these this is a fantastic art/wall piece

Definitely! and thanks ~

Wow. This is fantastic, but I would suggest dialing up the highlights a bit for better tonal balance. It's quite dark.

Simple Curves adjustment:

That looks even better Phillip, more punch i guess. Your version is actually closer to what this was after I did my BW conversion, but looking at the two, I think I just over processed the tone curves, ended up making them too soft somehow. Maybe my first reaction was it may have been too harsh, but yours has a great snap to it.

When I get back to the computer, I'll re-do it in the direction you suggest, I like yours better here, ha ha.

Thanks for your comments and revision, much appreciated.

Another great shot Joe. I do like the subtle tones of your original but have to agree that Phillip's interpretation knocks this out of the park.

I'm waiting for the opportunity to do some more focus stacked flower shots myself (come on Spring.....) so this is definitely a source of inspiration.

Thanks much Alan, yeah, even though this particular one has some ugly spots in it, I am going to finish it closer to Phillips version and make it more of a keeper i think.

Joe - this is stunning. I love it. I do like the edit that Phillip suggest but seriously great image!

Hope it goes on your page soon! It needs some stars!

Thanks Ruth :)
