B&W is my heart

I adore B&W, ever since I was a child in school, learning photography.

Whenever I want to isolate the mood, remove background distraction (too many diff colours) or just simplify, I go Blk & Wht.

In my 20's, you wouldn't believe how much I spent on Ilford film. I still shoot a roll here & there 😁.

I'm interested to scroll through the rest the photos in this genre!

PS,,, a few of the WRONG photos got attached, but still new to this website & not sure how to delete

Welcome to the B&W lovers club! I love the little girl. Nice work.

Make sure to leave comments, critiques, and tips on other people’s posts and you’ll fit right in.

Thank-you sooooo much. I absolutely plan to participate.

Love em all.... great set... Kat.....whoop...whoop

Thank-you so much

Hey Kat!

Glad to see you here. Nice group of images! For this post, I just want to focus on the first one because it is so special. The lighting in this is fabulous. i don't usually favor portraits because so often, for me, they look vacant. This couldn't be less like that. Her expression is mesmerizing. I've probably looked at it a dozen times and still find it moving. I think this is one of my favorite images I've seen in a long time.

Looking forward to many more.

PS - like Phillip said, make sure to participate. It will benefit everyone. :)

Aww, thank-you so much hunny!

Wow!! That means so much, I'm sure you've seen a TON of images, so thankyou.

I had her think about something, but she is a natural for sure. She is a deep thinker.

It's crazy, because I didn't really even tough this in post production, other than B&W conversion.

I'll reply with the original & another from same session.

Thank-you so very much for taking the time to comment & encourage 😁

She reminds me of my youngest step daughter. If they were the color blue, the oldest would be eccentric, lighthearted cornflower blue. The youngest would be deep, complex prussian blue. Always observing and thinking.
:)

Aw, that's so neat.

I also have step daugthers. 3 of them, they are teenagers now. Being a stepmom is one the hardest things I've ever done.

Here's the next image I shot. I decided to go more of a sepia than straight B&W

I love the innocence caught in her hands.

You must be a painter!

And here is one of them in colour, as shot in camera. I didn't choose this one, mostly because my focus point was off, was not on the eye, but on the fascinator instead . But I adore the colours, temperature, & ambient light.
I shot these with a Nikon D300, & an old MF Nikon 50mm 1.8

Sorry Kat! I dont know how i missed the bell that you replied to me. This is BEAUTIFUL! She is quite a captivating model and you are great with people. What a team!

Agree with the others here, Kat! Especially about the first image, and the girl's absorbed, enigmatic gaze. Mesmerising, indeed. And yes, comments are what makes this forum so lively and enjoyable. Look forward to seeing more, and hearing what you think.

Thank-you so very much.

Yes, this girl is a deep thinker.

I will for sure participate! Thank-you😁

Nicely done! The lighting on the first image is terrific plus, she gets 100 points for cute!!

I really like the third shot as well. An old car serenaded by an old guitarist (like me). What's not to like?!

Thank-you so much.

Yes, complete ambient light, from a small window. We were actually in a 1897 train.

Thank-you about the musician shot too. It's hopefully going to be an album cover. I choose that location, as it really suited the character of his music.

Thank-you so much

My favorite one is the first one of the little girl pensively looking to the side. Beautiful lighting captures a sweet moment. They are all good, but that one really speaks to me.

Thank-you so much

The girl that has gripped everyone is 5 stars. That said, it also got all the atrention. I just wanted to say that the package was nice and that i particularly like 2 and 5. Both are really strong. I'd repost these each as seperate posts and i bet you'll get thumbs up here as well.

Thank-you ruth. Still new here, and have been so very busy with family stuff lately, I wasn't able to be on much. And still can't find option to delete photos I want to.

I have also been really busy editing. But will post a few newly edited images & make sure to comment and participate more😁
