Dorka Ispán's picture

When you take an awful photo but b&w and a crop can solve the problem

I think everybody knows that feeling, when you take a photo but it's pretty flat, the composition sucks, and almost every aspect of the photo is a disaster. But sometimes, you have an inspiraton to make something out of this image despite all of the things which I mentioned.
This happened with my photo too.I share with you the original one and the result of my inspiration.

I'm curios what you think about it, and if you have similar photos I would gladly watch them too.

We aren't machines and while we like to think we can take great shots every time we press that button, we don't. I've certainly rescued my share of shots to make them really nice just by chopping off a part of the shot that didn't belong.

Nice! You make a good point. Even Ansel Adams did "post processing"! ;-)

You've certainly made something special out of the ordinary here,
Dorka! Good job. Your rotation shows imagination, beyond cropping.

One of my images people seem to like was similar. I was looking for a delicate mackerel sky above a distant treeline, but got midday light and cumulus blobs. So I cropped & converted. I'll still get that mackerel sky one day!

I really like your reworking, Dorka, but I think the original is not so bad! I like that angle from below. The biggest drawback is the lack of room above the ear, to my eye; I might have done something (less imaginative!) like this.
