I've been somewhat obsessed with this edit style that looks like an old gelatin silver print. I just started learning Lightroom and so far I am enjoying how quickly I can work as opposed to only using Photoshop. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks for looking!
Beautiful images all, Alison! Well done. You do capture a distinct mood and "feel" in these images. I particularly like the last three, and especially that glow you capture in the last one. I like the use of shallow depth of field in the first two, although the background in the first is still sharp enough to be slightly distracting. Your putting it first, though, makes me wonder if it's you own favourite.
Thank you for such a detailed critique, Chris! I very much appreciate you taking the time. My favorite one of the series is probably the last image of tulips, actually. The wild rose (2nd to last) is also special because I like the soft texture and those simple roses are one of my favorite flowers. Now that you mention it, the background is a bit distracting in the first image. I might crop it a bit to make it more intimate as well.
You can cheat and blur it in post.
Or perhaps Burn the background a bit?
It's funny I just did some shoots for this style today.
