I've been exploring in this direction of composite and what I guess is digital painting, though I'd love to know if there's a more widely used term for this. There's a number of photographs combined here in various blend modes, and then I'm using the normal brush and some smudging in places such as the mists where she approaches the water. And as you might guess, liquify is used to turn her hips and legs into a more singular column.
I'm interested in other people doing work like this I could learn from or be inspired by, and if there are other groups / websites / hashtags that might match up to things like this I haven't run into yet.
