Road Burners

Hi Guys,

I shot this image a few days ago of my buddies.
I added the sky and lava effects in post. The gear used were a Nikon D800 with a 50mm f/1.4 at 1/250th, f/11 ISO 500.
Here's a short video explaining the thought process behind the image: https://youtu.be/N8ACFiEha_k

C&C most welcomed as I would love to get better at this.

Cheers!

Compositing is fine.

However I don't feel the lava effect as it's disconnected from the story in the frame. The story displays 2 guys on cool bikes. Lava is expected to be shocking to those guys. With lava I imagine them looking down and screaming.

As for lighting I find 2 types of images: Ones that look cool and lighting doesn't match the environment (this current one). The others are those that don't look lit. In the current case (of the cool image) I find the light on the ground taking away from the warm tone of the image. I would tone it down and warm it up and next time when photographing such scene I'd block the light from the ground.

Thanks for the advice Tihomir. I really appreciate it!

very well done. I love the atmosphere you created. Keep it up bro.

nice one, like the processing of the riders. Interesting backstory video too.
