Jason Buff's picture

Before Midnight

Here's an image from my last workshop in Houston. It was a very simple set-up. Medium size softbox on the right feathered forward with white v-flat on the left...actually in frame but photoshoped out. I actually combined 3 images for this because I didn't like the left arm of the model, but I didn't have one that was zoomed out to reveal the entire dress. I also used her hair flying off to the left from another image. Then just played with the luminosity a bunch and the grading. The final step was just a bit of atmosphere from the light hitting from the right. When I was done, I actually wasn't sure if it was any good, but after stepping away for a few hours I really like the image. Of course having a great model and outfit doesn't hurt. I usually shoot at around f/8 in studio as I find it to be the sweet spot on my lens. ISO 160, Shutter 1/160.
