I am writing here as a open disucussion. I am curious how most of you got started photographing shows.
With todays vastly expanded horizon of social media and the immense popularity of Instagram, I am curious how one would go about approaching major artists and venues.
I know that the scene is fairly saturated with photographers, but am curious if there are still ways to get into it. I did shoot several show for smaller artists are larger festivals but have not yet been able to execute a lead into the management of larger artists as well as productions.

I used to be a professional drummer so it was a natural step to photograth concertes when i started my photo carrer...
first i started doing some concert images for local newppapers and moved from there...a started requesting photo pass for a few shows and it gorw from there.
now i am the official photographer for the most important music festival at the north of Portugal ( MEO Mares Vivas Music Festival) and im called to shoot some of the bigest bands/musitians
