Ruth Carll's picture

Space

I posted Earth yesterday. Here is "Space".

Thoughts and feedback welcome!

EDITED: this was actually a crop out of a larger image. I thought I'd throw that in the ring as well!!

Very spacey, Ruth, Very spacey!

:)

goal achieved!

Looks Hubbel-ish! ;)

That is very cool, Ruth. It reminds me of some of the paintings done by a friend of ours when I was a kid - way back in the sixties. Very psychedelic.

Between all my different fluid work, my childhood in the psychedelic 60s is clear! :)

Life emerges from the primordial soup. Is photography art, is a picture of art photography? Not sure but I do like the picture.

I agreed about the philosophical conundrum. I have decided for myself that this is a valid combination as I did create the painting and I do enhance the photo. In my mind the step from painting to photograph is just one in a series to get to my goal. I do have less positive feelings about someone who photograph someone else's art and uses it without alterations. Great happy hour topic for beer and philosophical discussion! Thanks for the feedback too.

I agree, if you create the piece in another art form then take a shot and use that as another medium it is a part of your creative process.

As Gion-Andri says, this does recall Hubble images! Also, that blue area calls to my mind views of Earth from space, so it can be "read" on various levels - looking out/looking in, so to speak. This is my favourite of your oozy abstracts, Ruth.

Thanks Chris! This one did come out well. It was exciting to make as, while the paints were doing their thing, I could see this evolving and got that rush of anticipation. This technique uses some chemical additives to the paint that make it churn (for lack of a better word). There's a tension while waiting to see if I overshot the mix and the look I want churns away. This one stopped at the perfect point! Yea!
