Winter Beach Abstracts 3

Hi All, here is the last of my recent posts 'Winter Beach Abstracts'. I'd love feedback and then I think I'll post a series of the favorites and see if they work as a group. Thanks for your thoughts!

More great work Ruth, although I have to say I still find that one shell distracting - once you know it's there it's hard to pull your eye away.......

I'm curious to see how others feel about this, perhaps it's just a personal thing.

I'd agree with Alan_ the shell is distracting. It's not big enough to be recognizable so it ends up being a white spot (there's another one just above it and slightly right, not as distracting). And I don't think even a recognizable shell would help. The interest here is the pattern and, in color, the color adds a different look. This type of photography is fun and interesting. My experience has been that most of these types of photos are not top rated photos (not just in this forum) but they are a fun learning experience. This goes beyond trying to make a good photo- it is good training in looking at things differently and more closely. Being more observant. Then some day... bam! ...a great one emerges. Keep at it.

Yeah prob no shell. Don't have to but maybe throw a gradient across from upper left to lower right. The lower right in both shots gets darker again, after it's been at it's lightest in about the rule of thirds intersection lower right. Make lower right continue to get brighter. Or you could do a color overlay gradient, blue to peach or whatever. Or gradient the b&w adjustment layer in PS. Go from muted color to grayscale by time lower right is reached. This may bring viewer out of picture, along the lines. If want viewer to stay within bounds, leave darkened in right corner. If the lower right starts getting light enough, you can make the lines fade out too. Kind of ephemeral feel.
