Thanks! I like the colors too, but feel the lights and darks are balanced enough to get away with B&W and the textures show up more without the distraction of the colors. Still not sure which I really prefer I seem to go back and forth.
Thanks Ruth. I'm more split the opposite of you, but I go back and forth.
I feel like the only time i do B&W conversions is when the color doesn't work for me. Thought it would be interesting to do it because it works in B&W instead of as a way of rescuing a less than great shot.
I'm surprised to find myself preferring the mono, as I love colour. I guess the pure forms are so interesting in their own right that the colour seems like an intrusion. Nice work, Troy!
I was surprised too. I'm usually a fan of color especially on flowers. When I was adjusting and masking out Lightroom's sharpening it converts to black and white and I really liked it so I decided to do a version where i started in black and white and then did a few small adjustments.
I like the colors immensely, and in my opinion, it would be a shame to lose them.

I agree that the color ones look better. I think the third image is my favorite - the curves look good and it looks deeper.
Thank you. The third was originally my favorite too especially in color, but in B&W I think I like the other shot.
Hi Troy, in a split decision -. Color in the first one and black and white in the second. And I'd love to say why but it is just a gut reaction!
Beautiful images regardless of what you choose in the end though! I love irises and these are lovely!

I'm with you Troy - I did a little flip flipping after reading everyone's comments! I also get your rationale too. 😁
