A test shot of a geode, illuminated by a single flash. The idea was to create a volumetric light (an inner glow, if you will) while playing with the line between light and dark. The center separating curve was created as a reflection of the light on the inner surface of the geode.
Comments welcome!

I like the shot as a whole, but I feel that the white on the left edge detracts from the image.
Thank you Matthew. I see what you mean. I was trying to balance the light on the left and the dark on the right. But our eyes are drawn more to light. Indeed, the brightness on the left is overwhelming. Thanks!
Hi Attila, thanks for sharing this interesting shot. I do like this shot as an abstract, but if having to offer feedback (if it were my own...) I'd say it is a little heavy on the right. If mine I would crop from the right and bottom to try and create more balance.
I'm not sure if the highlights are blown - not that I mind in the image but prints would be impacted.
I have cropped & rotated just to try for comparison (it 'feels' right to me and tells a different story). As we know only your opinion should count so take this simply as another viewpoint
I love this version of it. The black seems like billowing smoke to my eyes.
The beauty of abstract. We see what our minds see in it. :)
Thanks Alan! Actually, in the original shot, the black part was on the top. The 'milky' part of the object is the geode and the black is just a backdrop. The flash, at low power, was positioned under the geode and all the light is transmitted through the geode, illuminating its opaque outer shell.
