.. or ICM at all for that matter.
This is an image I worked on as part of an article I'm writing on how ICM novices can use Photoshop tools to study the impact of camera movement and speed.
Feedback welcomed - I'd especially like thoughts on the immediate impact, before the brain kicks in and analysis overrides emotion
Novice opinion is highly encouraged and valued.
It could be my eyes but I start to get a headache trying to focus an image I can recognise.
Hey, I apologize for that Mike, I certainly did not intend to induce a medical condition.
ICM naturally results in detail being diminished and the subject to become more impressionistic, represented more by essence than by clearly identifiable form.
Just as background, the original is of trees in winter, the one in the center a younger conifer.
Hi Alan, There's an old saying that goes "I dont kbow much about art, but I know what I like" and i do like this. It seems to be moving into the realm of impressionism and it evokes in me the impression of cold and menace (?)...
Camt wait for the article...
Regards,
Mike
Hey Mike, as you are interested the article follows - note that it is password protected at the moment ('icm') as It's not finishes and TBH I'm not sure if I should publish.
Id you have PS I'd love for you to try on your own images and let me know what you feel about the article.
I think it's a much easier way to visualize the affect of ICM than discovering in the field through trial & error.
Let me know your thoughts.
Hi Alan, Interesting experiment. I'm not sure if there isn't too much going on here for me. There is something going on that I can only describe as a stutter along with the ICM. What do you think about this image?
What are you going for?
Thanks Ruth, I was actually trying to simulate a couple of ICM techniques for an article and thought the result interesting. I mat have overdone the 'stutter' effect (what I think of as multi-imprint) in an effort to highlight the effect and show what is possible.
The real goal is to provide tools to anyone interested in ICM so they can gain an understanding before making trips into the field.
