Abstract Falls

Continuing with the bit of an abstract theme I've been on lately, I had really liked this simple composition of a waterfall as viewed from above. This was actually a pretty difficult shot to get and ended up in the destruction of a polarizer, so I figured I should give the edit a shot to see if it was worth it lol.

As much as I love grand landscape photography I've been liking these minimalist compositions lately. They seem more interesting as art pieces and there's so much room to do something new rather than to take the same picture everyone else has.

What do you think?

Welcome Trevor! And what a way to start - this is lovely! I'm glad to hear that you are in an 'abstract mood'.

I love the color in this image. The flashes of green in the moss and turquoise in the water are perfect. The motion in the water is great. All around nice work.

If I could give any feedback it would be to pull back the highlights on the rock in the center foreground just so that is didn't seem like a focal point. This is so minor though. I put the idea below but this isn't a dealbreaker. I'd go straight to your portfolio with this one!

Thanks Ruth! Yes I actually agree about the rock in the foreground.

Its funny you say that because I actually ended up doing a last minute edit to bring the whites/highlights off the rock, as they were quite a bit brighter before. I suppose I could go a bit further though and take out more of the highlights. I just wasn't sure how much was too much.
