Minimal Landcape

We haven't had much in the way of minimalism lately. Here is minimal landscape. I've wanted to get a shot of this tree for years but it is normally right at the waterline. I was sure that a storm would take it out before I could get a chance to visit at low tide. Yesterday's tide was perfect when I arrived and I was able to get enough beach in front of the tree. I am standing in the water but it was worth it!

Interesting.
Grey background binds all the elements very well.

I like it and fantastic work getting the shot!

Its funny, I live on the East Coast (USA) but haven't seen the ocean in 35 years; I've got to make my way down there this next season.

Where on the East Coast Joe? I'm in Vermont and hope to get to coastal Maine soon for some post-COVID shots

I'm in Connecticut. It's a shame I haven't been, it's only an hours drive.

Over the past year I've been slowing getting my stamina up. I can now last about 2hrs out in the field before getting back to the car. Some pretty bad nerve pain means I can't wonder too far. But I'm getting there slowly. :)

2 hours is a nice chunk of time Joe! I feel your pain though. When i had my knee replaced, it took a while to get back to shooting. I still have some trouble kneeling. This growing old crap is not for whimps that's for sure!!

Ah, the joys of working in monochrome, ideally suited to this type of work as it removes the distraction of color and places emphasis on texture and form .

I really like this image Ruth, the tree really draws you in and the image is well balanced. I do wonder though how the image might look if the scrub on the right edge wasn't there.

If there were one thing, yeah the shrub. Could be removed using some wizardly, but it would take some time to look right. I usually try to shoot "as I found it" but it can be difficult.

Thanks for the feedback all! Intereting thoughts about the shrub. I think it looks like it is holding the tree up - like there is some interaction between them. And there are the hidden things in shrub. .....

Nice work! Certainly worth getting wet, glad you were able to get it.

Austin, Texas Blue Hour

Was down in Austin for a bit on a work trip. I've always heard how beautiful the skyline is from the river.

Was a little let down by the clouds, but what can I do!

Two from Tenerife

My two favourite images from my recent night time adventure in Tenerife. Foregrounds and skies were shot separately and blended in PS.

Any interest in this group?

Hi all, I was looking for such a group but see that although there are many members there hasn’t been a single post. Is there interest out there in getting this group going?
