As we move on to a new season next month's theme will be Fall/Autumn.
October is the month where the northern US at least becomes a blaze of color. So get out there and push yourself beyond your comfort zone and see what minimal/abstract/experimental creations you can come up with.
For those not lucky enough to have access to the splendor of foliage season please think about submitting older Autumn images that fit the theme or creations following a broader topic of 'foliage'.
Just a reminder that the group is not looking for exceptional work, just images (or simply discussion points) that you would be willing to share and discuss with the group. We are a group of mutual respect, collaboration and learning - with a goal of growth for all.
As always, I will be selecting input to use as the group banner each Friday. Please post appropriately-theme images to this discussion for consideration.
For those newer to the group note that the banner format is unforgiving - a letter-box shaped section across the center of the image is selected automatically by the site, with zero options to edit.
Above all else - just get out there with your camera and explore!
This is from last year, but I think it fits nicely with the theme. It's a five-image composite made with the Pep Ventosa style in mind, even though it's not nearly enough frames to get the full effect. Each frame was a vertically panned ICM shot. I rotated around the central tree to get a variety of angles, but was limited by the other trees in the woods.
Last October beneath my deck.
Here the Autumn season is all about colours also. Not the spectacular explosions of colours that signify changes that are the hallmark of northern US and Canada, but of colours that the Monsoons bring.
Greens in endless hues erupt and signal new growth and possibilities to come.
Ah Julian, how can we forget rainy season....love the snail pic!
Autumn - the best season of the year!
In recognition that October means different things in different parts of the world I have select Julian's excellent and minimalistic image of what appears to be a palm leaf and snail for this week's banner. This works perfect for the banner and fit is with the (Minimalism) theme of the group.
For those who may be unaware Julian is located in Myanmar - instead of the vibrant display of foliage we enjoy in the US and Canada Julian is faced with monsoon weather - frequent and heavy downpours.
Enjoy the season no mater where you may be!
Just Another Autumn Leaf
We got home very late this afternoon from our daughter's house in Philadelphia after watching the Eagles beat the Panthers. Having stayed home, Harry still needed to go out. It was very overcast, and starting to get dark, so I chose to use a flash, which happens rarely. This helped the colors pop more than they would have otherwise and created separation from the background.
Not sure if, due to center editing, this would be a good banner photo. Nevertheless, here it is.
A little better fit but lower resolution due to cropping.
