Bruce Grant's picture

Been a while since I've posted

Haven't taken many shots lately but spring seems to reignite that which has gone dormant.

I don't own a macro lens yet but I wanted to experiment with what I have - how would a Sigma 150-600 perform with some extension tubes added to it?

Not everything I expected but I think I'm pleased with the results. And there is definitely room for improvement. I would like to be able to control depth, which I'm not able to do since the tubes have no connectors for the electronics.

Hi,
A quick one to reflect for DOF. Some work at desk when we run short of time to select and compose the shot to our like.

Looks nice without the leaf in the background.

Hi Bruce. It's been a while since I pulled out my tubes and macro is not my strength so I don't feel qualified to answer your question.

You have done a good job with this image - I remember my own frustrations trying to capture flowers with even the slightest breeze causing objects to not only move in and out of focus, but fall out of the frame completely.

There is a Macro community group that may be a better fit for your question, but I'm unsure how active they are.

Thanks, Alan. It was definitely my experience with the breeze while shooting these.
