New month, new season, new challenge

As we are now entering the spring season (at least in New England) I think it might be good to challenge ourselves to get out with the camera, and perhaps try something that may be new to some.

Due to a lack of suggestions otherwise, the overarching theme for April will be ICM. I understand that this genre may not appeal to many, be a step outside of their comfort zone or even a genre that has caused frustration in the past. That said I would encourage all to try and gain a better understanding and expand their personal boundaries.

View this as a chance to get out and experiment without fear - what do you have to lose but a bit of time?

There is a wealth of informational videos on YouTube etc - for those new to ICM I would suggest trying the foundations (upright trees using a vertical pan, body of water using horizontal pan) to begin with. somewhere between 1/10 and 1/4 sec may be a good place to start speed-wise.

As my experience has benefitted from a few years of failures I will be available to advise in a non-expert capacity if that would help.

For those who may want to visualize how ICM may work on a current image this can be achieved by using the motion blur filter in Photoshop. I have a guide on my website for doing so if interested;

So get out there and give it a go. If you are comfortable in doing so I think we'd all like to see your results, the goal is for us all to grow so no result will be viewed as unworthy.

Thanks to Jennifer for pre-empting this, and providing our first discussion post f the new month.

I have a question. Are we suppose to post our images as part of a new discussion or are we suppose to them in the comments of your post New mone, new season, new challenge? I assume discussions are posted within your post but images too?

Apologies for the confusion Rich. It is probably best to add as a separate discussion if you are looking for feedback specific to your work but adding here would work also.

All - please note that discussions are not restricted to ICM this month, this is merely a topic to get folks energized and thinking about trying it out or expanding their techniques.

As a quick note, I saw just now that the last eight most recent posts and interactions in any Fstoppers group were from our group. Good work everyone at keeping the discussion going!
