Charles Mercier's picture

Reflections

Surfaces of water makes for great abstract photos. I've got many of them.

50mm 1/1600 f5.6

I really would have preferred having all of this in focus....well, because I'm really a member of the f64 Club.

(Btw, I don't always comment but overall I really love the photos of this group.)

I really love this photo, Charles. I think the crop is a good one (causing diagonal lines from lower left to top right). The flow of the waves and the textures are so lovely. The playing of light everywhere works perfectly, and gives the water an almost glass appearance (or ice if the colors weren't so warm). There's something about the areas of darkness within the mix that I really appreciate, but I don't know why. Maybe without those areas the warm color would be monotonous, and the darkness breaks it up in a pleasing way. No matter what, this is a really pleasant image to view.

Thanks again for your comments but nature did most of the work! lol

Yes, but you captured it just at the right moment!

Thanks for posting Charles, it's great to know that you participate in the group even if you don't comment.

The composition is interesting - I find my gaze following the diagonal from lower left, and then turning left at the 1st intersection and following the contrasting curved line to the light.

Good to see you participating, your work and viewpoint is always valued.

Thanks. Funny, you seem to see more lines and I see more waves...though now I'm far more aware of the lines thanks to you and Jennifer.
