Reflections on Fall

Just to generate some discussion. Here are a couple of images of fall foliage, both captured as reflections in an adjacent pond.
The results are rather abstract, which I feel offers a different perspective to the standard fare that comes out this time of year.

I typically struggle to capture images that do justice to the wonder of Fall in this neck of the woods and would be interested to hear how others approach their own images of Autumn.

Fall hasn't arrive in our neck of the woods. The only thing Orange is the flames from Wildfires.

Before I read intros I looked at the photos to see what I am looking at and tried to determine how it was done.

I wonder how the first photograph would look like with a texture layer to mimic a painting as it is almost there.

Thanks Dean, that's a good point you make on looking prior to reading. That way you get to for your own impressions without being influenced by detail.

Good point on the texture suggestion, I'll have to try that.

These are great Alan. Love 'em.

Thanks Charles!

These are gorgeous, Alan. Are they ICM in the camera or post? This is a wonderful way to portray fall differently than we normally see the season at this time of the year. Also, combining the technique with reflections is amazing! Something about the little specks of water highlights really causes the observer to know that these are reflections right away. I love that. Thanks for inspiration. We are just starting our fall here.

Thanks Jennifer. No ICM here at all (I know.... shock & horror.....), just straight reflections from the pond in front.

I did use a Polarizer to limit the specular reflections from the water surface, bumped up contrast & saturation etc and removed some of the more distracting surface elements.

Other than that (and turning upside down) these are straight shots :-)
