I had looked at this Christmas decoration every day last week trying to figure out an interesting way to shoot it then I saw Alan's post on ITR (and intersections) the other day and decided to give it a try.
It was more difficult than I thought it would be and required a bunch of layering/opacity/masking editing. I included the base image below it for reference.
Canon gear
f/2.0
1/60
ISO 2500 (put iso on automatic)
35mm lens
I added a lens flare via Photoshop at the top just for effect.
I think this has worked well Jennifer. The detail you have retained in the decoration is spot on, and the other elements softening nicely.
You have done a good job with the background picture - such high contrast elements always provide challenges
You're right about the higher contrast elements. It really was a learning experience. Thanks for commenting. Also, hope you're having a great holiday season!
I love the added lens flare.
The photo has a very fairy-like atmosphere to it.
Thanks, Dean. Fairy-ish is what I was going for. Thank you for saying - it makes me smile. Hope you're having a great holiday. I'm enjoying your pinhole work and appreciate it.
