I'm finding it difficult to achieve several shots without a model, Most modeling agencies are charge way more for models and I realize that this is all for security purposes. However I asked the wife how she felt about me buying a mannequin for some of my shoots. I thoughts here is that I'm looking to cast shadows on parts of her body, use parts of her arms etc in my shots which at some point if I can create a portfolio of these shows maybe I can convince several models to do these shots with me. Plus I'd never do these types of shots without my wife there as she is also a creative mind behind my images.
Would you spend a few hundred dollars on a mannequin? If so lets try to keep this topic on target and without perverted thoughts..
If I wasn't such an introvert and likes dealing with people... a mannequin is the way to go and would be a great tool, figuring if they used them in Art Classes...what's the difference? (Except the tuition you save).
This would also allow you to experiment with how clothing effects lighting..."Would monsieur care for a little Moiré?"
This is the closest I get to taking Glamor shots.
Ha, that's actually better than many of the glamor shots I have seen Dean :-)
You could use local people in exchange for good photos, such as for their social media or just beginning models.
I have seen some professionals experiment and setting the lights with Mannequin. Also as scaling element to design the mood boards and later setting the production.
It may give a little more luxury of time for prep at not much cost.
Having said this, when actual photo-shoot with models, improvisation is also the name of the game. The human elements of skin tones, expressions, scale and costumes changes the energy. Some models have phenomenal stage presence, shoot attitude and divine aura when light switches on. That adds a lot in final out-put.
Happy clicking.
