Really great shots Eduardo, impressive use of the environment in your photos. Lots of context, while still letting the food shine.

Thanks, you :)

Eduardo- very good job with food photography in an engaging environment. Good color, detail, and energy. The only improvement I would suggest is to balance the wide photos with more macro close ups of food texture detail.

For me it's only the last shot that works for me as a food shot, its the only image where i see the food as the hero. The rest is to wide for my taste, and i don't find the environment really adding much to the food.

I also find the lighting to be most pleasing in the last shot as it has more contrast and direction compared to most of the other shots.

Did you use anything to modify the light or did you rely on available light only ?

Thanx for sharing!

Thanks for the comments, i usually try to use the avaible light but i always bring to me reflectors, some of them mylar made for a hard light relfection, many sizes and shapes of mirrors, and diffusers.

For example in this photo i reflect the sun light , with a mylar reflector, and fill the food with a white reflector in the front and a small broken mirror.

Thank you the answer, the example is nice. natural light is great when it's available and using cards and mirrors is such easy and fast way to fill in the shadows. I rarely shoot natural light as it limits the control (i live in a country where sunlight is not commodity sadly..) in terms of composition and time schedule. So i use studio strobes on location usually 1-2 strobes but not to rare that i use up to 4 strobes on location.

Eduardo, I hate top down shots for food but HOLY Sh*T you just made the exception to that rule! These are phenomenal! Perfect use of .....everything. You inspire the hell out of me. now everytime I go into a restaurant I am going to be looking at the light fixtures and wondering if I can get a camera up there.
Keep killing it!

Thanks I feel honored to inspire you.

Hi, Eduardo -- I really like the commitment you made to this idea of showcasing the place. But I have to agree with Paul that I feel the food gets 2nd place to the too wide shots. Most of the shots make the food look small.
Yo are obviously a skilled and talented shooter. I feel almost(almost) as if you are trying more to show me how good you are than to show how good the food is. i feel like you could give a sense of the place with a closer shot of the food while letting it go softer in the BG.

hi, i love this thing about the food in second place, maybe i didn't give too much background about this.

Almost every Wide image have a closer shot alternative, i made it because i feel it a risky wide image, in this photography sesion, when i get to the restaurant i got amazed, the place was wonderful i just love it and the idea cross my mint.

for example, in this wide wide image, i can see my self sitting in this wonderful cantina, eating some duck tacos and drinking mescal.

maybe i just went too romantic in this shoots :)
