Very bold move with the way you've posed the hands. You obviously know what normally works, broke the usual "rules" and got away with it because you understand the reason for those rules.
well done ... if I may suggest: removing the edges of the shelving from bottom left of image will make it strong and stops my eye from looking at tone difference between the edge and the shadow :)
