Hi everyone,
I'm new to architectural photography and I really want to start building up my portfolio (I currently only have one job that I shot a few years ago). The first of many questions I have for you is, how should I approach potential clients about shooting to build my port, while making some money as well?
I thought of two ways to do this:
1. Let them know I'm building my portfolio, if they allow me to shoot the property and/or interior, offer them web sized, watermarked shots. If they want the full res shots then charge them a licensing fee.
2. Offer them a discounted package, and provide the high res images at that discounted rate.
I would fully disclose that this is strictly an introductory rate.
I would love any and all of your opinions, advice and tips.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Crystall, Been shooting a while , but a newly to architectural work. What I did for my first big Job. I got all the questions asked and what the company wanted . I wanted to make $50 an hour, pulse expenses. The $50 was also driving time , I had about goals of 500 plus miles. I bid the job for $2500.00 We chatted and reduced my fee and got the job. I first did on building for free , no obligation. since I was new to this hype of work. He liked my work. From there I went. My goal was not to "run down myself" since i was new, but just honest. , Ken If you want chat on phone, happy to help PS I am not a believer in using the "discount" in my discussions. I like introductory, "robust pricing for you" "pleasent pricing" etc
Thank you for all the details 😊
