I would appreciate some feedback on my real estate photos.

I started doing RE photography back in April without really knowing what I was doing. I was mostly doing HDR at first until I learned more about lighting and bought my first 2 speedlights. So far I've done a little over 20 houses and I think I am confident enough to start charging more and try to find more clients and put together a portfolio. I would appreciate any feedback and critique.

Great shots imo. Might be a tad to yellow for my liking, but nothing really wrong.

The bed is floating a bit too much without any shadow, its looking a bit weird.

In the last shot, a small flash in the closet in the back would've also been cool.

How did you get the windows like that? Do you bounce flash the entire room, or do you seperately flash the window?

Thanks! I usually just bounce the flash and that's usually enough to light the whole room as long as your aperture is not too small. For bigger rooms I use a 200w strobe.

White balance looks a bit warm. The overall composition looks fine - veritcals are straight, etc. I would bring down the dynamic range a bit and introduce some shadow into the composition, especially with photos like the kitchen. The bedroom photos seem to be pretty good as far as your dynamic range goes, but some off camera flash would go a long way toward making the kitchen look more habitable.

Overall, not bad at all, keep it up!

I am planning to get a gray card to help with white balance in the future. I did use an off camera flash for the kitchen shot but there was a lot of natural light and almost no shadows even without a flash.

Hi - Like the other comments, all look too warm for me. Ensure all verticals are vertical :)

It’s difficult for me to critique these as the US guys seem to have difficult style to the European guys. In general, the US style seems polished and processed whilst the European style seems natural and subtle. For that reason, I won’t comment on the post production.

Technically, they appear solid with no obvious flaws. I personally prefer lights off, but that’s personal preference.

I’d toss the opening shot - not your fault but the decor looks like it’s from another decade.

That's interesting. Do you have any examples of the European style? There's not a lot of editing, actually. I just brightened the shadows a bit and did a basic blend of flash exposure and ambient.

Check out work by Hufton + Crowe, Edmund Summers and even Iwan Baan. To the best of my knowledge, they aren’t using additional lighting

I enjoyed reading the insightful and constructive comments so far. I'd like to add a couple if I may.

I think there is too much exterior detail in the windows for images 2-4. My clients prefer a more realistic exposure in the windows with just enough details to show there are trees or a lawn outside for example. In photo 3 I could see all the way to the mountains. That's quite a bit of depth. In general, I try to reduce the depth of my interior photos. My two cents.

I'd probably close the door in the last photo. It's a preference thing, but my editors don't like open doors if they don't add value to the photo. That open door also draws my eye away from the centre of focus (the bed, nightstands, and dresser).

Cool stuff. Thanks for posting!

lovely clean captures of these rooms. I am sure you have few F1.8 or F2 handy to give you these good results.

I like your photos alot,i don't like HDR i would prefer layers in photoshop and also something is going on with the white balance, always use a grey card in the end of every photo to bring back the natural white
