Focus Stacking ~ New to Me
I am interested in learning Macro/Closeup photography and understanding that Focus Bracketing is a good part of the process, I thought I would give focus stacking a try.
Vintage Lens
Another visit to our garden using a vintage lens (Canon FD 50mm f/1.4) on my Canon R5. NOTE: With this lens the minimum focusing distance is 18" at which point you have 1/4" depth of field.
Austin, Texas Blue Hour
Was down in Austin for a bit on a work trip. I've always heard how beautiful the skyline is from the river.
Was a little let down by the clouds, but what can I do!
Two from Tenerife
My two favourite images from my recent night time adventure in Tenerife. Foregrounds and skies were shot separately and blended in PS.

Good work Dan.
With so many textures one could go nuts lighting it but your minimalist approach works.
A few things spring to mind.
First thing is, I might stomp the blacks a bit to help pop it and bring some separation. Next issue is a seemingly little one but in the world of product work it is key, and that is geometry.
The last thing is textures. I've actually done quite a bit of work for Glock, both in the US and in Austria, and I know how proud they are of the textures on the frame. So in this example I've brought that out a tad. I hope you don't mind but I tweaked your shot a bit to illustrate what I'm talking about.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks Julian!
A few things on my end.
I purposefully moved the levels so that the blacks weren't true black to give it a more matte look. The adjustment you made looks like mine did before I added the levels adjustment.
I don't understand your comment about geometry and how it relates to this image? Can you clarify?
I agree that the texture could have been enhanced a bit more.
BTW: I am a product photographer for Amazon's largest studio in the Jewelry and Watch department, so it's what I work on almost every day of the work week.
Hello Dan,
My hunch was that you had your hands in Product work. Cool.
Yea the blacks did punch up the frame a bit so I pulled some out of the side view -could've pulled a bit more.
The geometry comment and adjustment was to the side view. I simply leveled it so it was truly horizontal. Not a big deal. Keep up the good work.
