Shoes: Under Armour Charged Lightning

Here's a recent shoot I did for a class assignment. I got an early Christmas present and the assignment was Product Photography, or in other words "sell me a product."

I include multiple variations of each image, most notably a "clean version" without lightning and then the electrified versions. If it wasn't clear, the lightning is there because I wanted to play with the name of the shoe - "Charged Lightning."

These are all basically light-painted with a single Nikon SB-700 flash and taken with a Nikon D7000 and 50/1.8G, if anyone is interested. The lightning is from a free brush pack from Deviant Art. You can find a lot of fun free brushes there.

The front three-quarters image with lightning on a grey background is the one I used for my portfolio. I liked the red background, but the lightning pops better off of the grey and it didn't work with the rest of the images.

I appreciate all feedback, comments, and constructive criticism!

I like this study and experiment. I think it looks very clean and could def be used in an ad. The lightning is an interesting twist, as is the motion version. I think the only thing I would add is that maybe the sole and logo are very dark and could use some additional light (this, however, could entirely be my monitor). The 50mm on a crop shows what you can do with a crop body and a good flash (I have the same SB-700). Nice work!
