Recent work, Unique look or bad photos?

Here are some favorites from the last few weeks, Any comments or critiques would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to give my photos a unique look using locations and post processing to set my images apart from others. I know it might not be for everyone but I'd rather here why you don't like them than here nothing at all.
- Thanks, Chris.

Just some quick thoughts. The first pic looks kind of interesting and would be ok with other supporting photo's as some kind of editorial. If it were me shooting that, I might shoot it with less grass in the shot - but I don't know what else lies outside the frame so that might be all the options you had there.

With the 2 rolling shots, I find the wheel from the car you're shooting from a bit distracting, I'd personally crop it out. I'd also look for a location or time of day with less everyday cars in the background, but once again if it was part of a story where this was enroute to some location then it might fit.

The 4th shot I'm very sorry, but comes across as a happy snap, just nothing really going on here other than a head level shot with flat lighting - at least try maybe going low, going high. The Nissan 300ZX - much nicer - interesting golden light - long shadows - probably the best shot here in my opinion. The last one, I'm not so sure on.

I hope I haven't sounded too negative. Keep shooting, good on you for putting yourself out there.

First off thank you for such a solid review, I don't see it as negative in any way. I didn't join this site for praise, I joined to get tips and advice from other photographers exactly like you gave me.

I see exactly what you mean with having less grass in the photo, I tend to shoot very wide but I'm learning to mix it up and use tighter shots to really show off the details of the cars. I'm not making excuses, I'm sure I could have found a way to work around it but there was lots of cars parked in this lot at the time and this angle seemed to work but it is pretty distracting. Also I never really thought about the photos in an editorial way, but that has got me thinking about lots of things I could do to kind of tell a story with a few photos.

I'm starting to regret leaving that bit of the second car in the roller photos, at the time I thought it was cool to have the snippet of their buddy's car but If I had another chance I would try and frame it much better. I'm also shooting totally blind hanging my camera out the window using a tripod and shutter release but I know I could get better at framing blind with practice.

On the 4th I think I just went over board trying to balance out the shadows and highlights, I'll take the loss on that one haha.

I really appreciate the complement on the 300zx shot, I think that's my best work so I'm glad it wasn't a total flop. And again appreciate the honesty in your critique, you've given me a lot to think about.
