Audi A4 Natural light - Overcast

Hey everyone,

I'm fairly new to photography in general, I work for Audi out in Las Vegas and I always thought our vehicle photos looked blown out and weren't doing the vehicles any justice so I decided to pick up a camera and take my own photos to show customers to sell cars. That in turn has turned into a sort of hobby for me which I'm thoroughly enjoying. Through experimenting this is where I've gotten.

My Gear:
Nikon D3300
Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 with a CPL

Critique me, judge me, help me learn. I'm stuck mainly using natural light for the majority of what I shoot and I don't have any set locations yet. I know the window sticker sticks out like a sore thumb, this was on a cooler day and they're a pain to get off when it's not hot out.

Be mindful of distractions. In the top photo, the manhole cover, and the proximity of the guardrail to the car are distractions. If the car was moved to the left and back a few feet, both of these would have been taken care of

The sign on the bottom shot is similar; makes it look like it's growing out of the car. Move the car a few feet to the right, and you're probably golden.

Nothing wrong with natural light. Since you're in Lost Wages, most of the year you're going to want to do your shots early in the morning, or close to dusk, or the sun is going to be too harsh. Hope this helps.

Noted, looking at them again I completely understand what you're saying, I had more space to work with up there I was just being cautious with my proximity to the through road right next to me. I'll definitely pay better attention to whats around the vehicle.

Yeah unfortunately we don't have too many cloudy days, and the harsh desert sun is not kind on paint or chrome, reflection flares are crazy, when I'm at work there's a limitation to how far from the dealership I can go as well. I might try shooting in the garage next time.

I completely understand about the sun (I'm in San Antonio). A circular polarizer filter helps a bunch with reflections on the pain and glass. Keep up the good work.
